Intersectional Feminism in Nevada

Nevada NOW is a chapter within the larger National Organization for Women (NOW) network. We work on a broad range of women’s rights issues and affect change through community organizing, grassroots lobbying, and litigation.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last month for a incredibly energizing meeting on the ERA! We were so lucky to be joined by ERA and Civil Rights activists State Sen. Pat Spearman and Zoe Nicholson! Cosponsors included Emerge Nevada, League of Women Voters of Southern Nevada, Indivisible OWLS, Moms Demand Action, and Paradise Indivisible. Thank you to all!

Nevada elects Majority Female Legislature!

Nevada Now is very proud to acknowledge and congratulate all of our outstanding endorsed candidates who won their elections in November! In these November midterms Nevada had great success with many of our strong, active, progressive women, and their powerful messages got through to voters. The Nevada Legislature is now over 50% women, and we have a majority female Supreme Court, great success for making women and family issues a priority in Nevada!

In the 35 races where Nevada NOW endorsed candidates, 26 of these candidates won, a 74% success! On the Federal level we now have two female Senators in Nevada, Senators Jacky Rosen and Catherine Cortez-Masto. We also sent endorsed candidates Dina Titus, Susie Lee, and Steven Horsford to the House of Representatives.

All these candidates have a powerful voice and give us great hope for the future for all of Nevada citizens. Congratulations to these amazing candidates and thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make this happen!
