Who We Are

We are people from all walks of life who share a common passion for social justice geared toward the advancement of women. Nevada NOW is a chapter within the larger National Organization for Women (NOW) network. We work on a broad range of women’s rights issues, some of which include economic justice, pay equity, racial discrimination, women’s health, women with disabilities, reproductive rights and justice, family law, LBTQIA rights, representation of women in the media, and eco-feminism. We create change through community organizing, grassroots lobbying, and litigation.

Our Mission

In Nevada, our mission is simple:  work towards social justice for all women regardless of race, age, ethnicity, immigration status, or sexual orientation through advocacy, education, and policy initiatives.

What We Do

As a grassroots arm of the women’s rights movement, the National Organization for Women is dedicated to its multi-issue and multi-strategy approach to women’s rights, and is the largest organization of feminist grassroots activists in the United States. NOW has hundreds of chapters and hundreds of thousands of members and activists in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Since our founding in 1966, NOW’s purpose is to take action through intersectional grassroots activism to promote feminist ideals, lead societal change, eliminate discrimination, and achieve and protect the equal rights of all women and girls in all aspects of social, political, and economic life.

Our Volunteer Board

Nevada NOW is a grassroots and intersectional feminist activist organization. We have no paid staff, and that is a point of pride. We do the work we do because we believe in women and we believe in our Nevada communities.

We, women and men, who hereby constitute ourselves as the National Organization for Women, believe that the time has come for a new movement toward true equality for all women in America, and toward fully equal partnership of the sexes, as part of the world-wide revolution of human rights now taking place within and beyond our national borders.
