January 2019 Meeting
We were excited to have Annette Magnus, Battle Born Progress Executive Director, and Karina Provost from NARAL Pro-Choice Nevada as our speakers for the first meeting of the year. We had a wonderful talk about the progressive legislation our Majority female legislature will be introducing. Our meeting also included the Nevada NOW Board elections. Congratulations to all!
February 2019 Meeting
Thanks to our speakers Erika Washington of Make it Work Nevada and LaLo Montoya of Make the Road for educating us on Earned Paid Sick Days.
March 2019 Meeting
Zoe Nicholson was so inspiring at our Women’s History Month event. We watched a video about Zoe’s activism when she put her life on the line while fasting for 37 days attempting to draw attention to the importance of passing the Equal Rights Amendment. And had a chance to talk about what we can do to help as activists to finally have women in the Constitution. If you are interested in learning more about Zoe’s activism follow her on Facebook and go to her website https://www.zoenicholson.com. Thanks again to all that attended.
April 2019 Meeting
We appreciate everyone who joined us today for our program for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. We would like to thank Daniele Dreitzer, Executive Director of The Rape Crisis Center, Juliette Ozols from Be A Shero Foundation & Electra Skrzydlewski, Regional Director from Sen. Cortez-Masto’s office. The topics we covered needed more time to discuss than we had so we will be sending out information on how you can take action and make a difference.
May 2019 Meeting
We had a lively discussion on intersectionality at our meeting today. Thanks to Sybrina Bernabei from Gender Justice Nevada and Ranita Ray, Asst. Prof. of Sociology, UNLV for an informative meeting and great conversation.
