January 2019 Meeting

We were excited to have Annette Magnus, Battle Born Progress Executive Director, and Karina Provost from NARAL Pro-Choice Nevada as our speakers for the first meeting of the year. We had a wonderful talk about the progressive legislation our Majority female legislature will be introducing. Our meeting also included the Nevada NOW Board elections. Congratulations to all!

February 2019 Meeting

Thanks to our speakers Erika Washington of Make it Work Nevada and LaLo Montoya of Make the Road for educating us on Earned Paid Sick Days.

March 2019 Meeting

Zoe Nicholson was so inspiring at our Women’s History Month event. We watched a video about Zoe’s activism when she put her life on the line while fasting for 37 days attempting to draw attention to the importance of passing the Equal Rights Amendment. And had a chance to talk about what we can do to help as activists to finally have women in the Constitution. If you are interested in learning more about Zoe’s activism follow her on Facebook and go to her website. Thanks again to all that attended.

April 2019 Meeting

We appreciate everyone who joined us today for our program for Sexual Assault Awareness Month. We would like to thank Daniele Dreitzer, Executive Director of The Rape Crisis Center, Juliette Ozols from Be A Shero Foundation & Electra Skrzydlewski, Regional Director from Sen. Cortez-Masto’s office. The topics we covered needed more time to discuss than we had so we will be sending out information on how you can take action and make a difference.

May 2019 Meeting

We had a lively discussion on intersectionality at our meeting today. Thanks to Sybrina Bernabei from Gender Justice Nevada and Ranita Ray, Asst. Prof. of Sociology, UNLV for an informative meeting and great conversation.

June 2019 Meeting

Thank you to everyone who attended our June meeting. We had an exciting conversation about the formation of the Nevada NOW PAC and a wonderful review of Nevada’s legislative session. Thank you to Linda Berg, Nevada NOW’s political director, and to Will Pregman of Battle Born Progress for leading the discussions. Thanks to all who attended.

August 2019 Meeting

Thank you to everyone who attended our August meeting. We had an enlightening, informative meeting about immigration law and civil rights. Thank you to Prof. Michael Kagan, Director of the UNLV Immigration Clinic, and Bliss Requa-Trautz, Director of Arriba Las Vegas Worker Center for helping lead this discussion. September 2019 Meeting

Thank you to everyone who joined us this month for a incredibly energizing meeting on the ERA! We were so lucky to be joined by ERA and Civil Rights activists State Sen. Pat Spearman and Zoe Nicholson! Cosponsors included Emerge Nevada, League of Women Voters of Southern Nevada, Indivisible OWLS, Moms Demand Action, and Paradise Indivisible. Thank you to all!

If you were unable to attend or would like more information on how to help, please click here. The nation’s political attention is on the 2019 state legislative races in Virginia on November 5. To help ensure the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment in Virginia and become the 38th state needed, they must elect at least 4 four more “equality champions” to put the Virginia legislature’s leadership in the hands of pro ERA lawmakers. Nevada can help make this happen!
